Laurence Kaye
Laurence Kaye has specialised in media law and regulation since 1973 and his practice is a mix of structuring, negotiating and advising on a wide range of digital media,technlogy, IP and e-business contracts, including ‘Web 2.0’ issues such as the liability of platforms for hosted, third party content.

The European Publishers Council; adviser to the Digital Content Forum of the Society for Computer and Law’s Internet Interest Group
He has experience of designing, leading and co-ordinating international legal projects. These include (i) an audit of an international company’s compliance with data protection and privacy regulations across 13 legal jurisdictions, including 9 member states and (ii) a 300 page survey covering the impact of copyright and new media on the media monitoring industry; (iii) advising a leading international media group based in the UK of the impact of a wide range of current EC policy initiatives. As regards media regulation, he has also advised clients on the impact of competition laws covering the exploitation of content and on media ownership rules.
He has been actively involved on the Data Protection Directives, the Copyright Directive, the Database Directive and the E-Commerce Directive ( www.dcf.org.uk ) in the UK and as Co-Chairman (www.scl.org), Laurence also advised on Internet Regulation.
